Welcome Alumni & Friends!
We are very interested in keeping in touch with you, sharing new developments, and learning of your activities.
This new portion of the web site is still being developed but will contain several innovations that include a Department Newsletter and an Alumni Directory. Also, planning has begun for a landmark celebration in June, 2007 honoring 40 years of chemical engineering at UCSB.
In order to keep you informed about the symposium and other events, we encourage alumni to fill out a brief Questionnaire, or at least contact us by e-mail at ChEadmin@engineering.ucsb.edu.
We are pleased to report that the Department continues to prosper. We are a medium-sized ChE department with 18 faculty, 190 undergraduates, and 79 graduate students, mainly Ph.D. students. The department is widely recognized as a leading chemical engineering (ChE) program. For example, it is ranked ninth in the United States and second in the University of California (U.S. News and World Report, 2006). Our outstanding faculty members have been recognized by numerous awards and honors including National Academy Membership for seven senior faculty and National Science Foundation Career achievement awards for junior faculty. See Honors and Awards for details.
Finally, if you haven’t visited UCSB during the past few years, you will be amazed at the many new buildings, especially at our East end of campus. (See the campus map and the Virtual Tour.) |
